Halloween is almost here, and San Antonio and Boerne are full of family-friendly ways to trick-or-treat without knocking on a single stranger's door: decorated car trunks in parking lots, candy stations at the zoo, and costume parades up and down Main Street.
This is the roundup of trunk-or-treats and Halloween events still running through November 1, with details to confirm before you go. I keep every list on this site current and honest, and this one is no different: each event below is a real, verified pick with the date, time, and place as published by the organizer.

Trick-or-treating tips for a happy Halloween
A few small habits make every event on this list go smoother. None of them require a spreadsheet, just a couple of minutes before you walk out the door.
- Snap a photo of the kids in their full costume before you go. It makes the memory, and it helps spot a wandering superhero in a crowded lot.
- Bring a charged phone and a flashlight. The last thing you want at dusk is a dead battery and a dark parking lot.
- Do a candy-safety check for the littles. Toss anything unwrapped, torn, or homemade, and keep small choking hazards away from toddlers.
- Set a meeting spot for older kids. Pick a landmark, like a decorated trunk or the front gate, so everyone knows where to regroup.
- Check each event's rain plan or cancellation notice before you load the car. Texas weather can change the whole plan by mid-afternoon.
